Mergers and integrations

Integrating companies and teams

I was involved in the largest ever integration in the logistics industry. I experienced first hand what to do and to not do and can testify that integrating companies is one of the greatest challenges a manager can face.

Anyone facing an integration first asks themselves "what's going to happen to me?" - so organisational decisions have to be made quickly, transparently and objectively. The alternative is complete organisational inertia and an inward focus leading to customer desertion.

On the other hand - assuming the strategy is clear - processes have to be aligned, teams have to be merged, and cultures have to be harmonised. Here an early start using a structured approach will pay off many times over.
